What Is The Board Of Medicine?The Board consists of 8 members: five physicians, two lay members and one physician assistant appointed to four year terms by the Governor. As a group, the Board licenses medical doctors, osteopathic physicians and physician assistants (PA's) to practice medicine in Wyoming. A license to practice medicine is a privilege, not a right, granted to applicants who satisfactorily demonstrate to the Board that they are adequately trained to possess the professional, practical and personal characteristics necessary to safely and skillfully practice medicine in the state. Also serving with the Board members are the Physician Assistant Advisory Council Members appointed by the Board. At least two PA's and two physicians sit on the Council and review applications, interview PA applicants and advise the Board on all issues pertaining to physician assistant practice. Meeting in February, June and October, the Board reviews and decides a wide range of business and public policy questions and interviews applicants for licensure.Who Pays For The Board?
